Christmas is just round the corner, and are you looking for a present for someone who loves to sing? Perhaps for your friend in the choir, for your son in the indie rock band, or for the choir director who organises the rehearsals every week. From over 20 years of teaching singing in Berlin, I know that the best gifts for singers and choir members are those that help them with their singing, whether it’s for daily practice, singing together or during rehearsals. Here are my favourite ideas.
1. A good water bottle
Water is the elixir of life for the voice. It keeps the mucous membranes moist and supple, ensuring a clear voice and sustained stamina when singing. The „Sing a Song – Be Happy!“ stainless steel water bottle Keeps drinks cool in summer and warm in winter. That way, your tea will still be warm when you arrive at choir practice. A gift that gets used every day, and a useful tip, especially for choir singers: people often don’t drink nearly enough during long rehearsals.
2. A cup of tea before warming up
For many people, a warm herbal or ginger tea with honey before practising is a lovely ritual. It goes perfectly with a favourite mug that reminds you every morning: today’s the day for singing! My mug It has a coloured interior in orange or blue, and the slogan „Sing a Song – Be Happy!“ is sure to bring a smile to your face, even on days when there seems to be no reason to smile.
3. A fine cup of tea
It’s best to pop it in with your cup straight away. My pupils„ favourite tea is the Meßmer herbal tea “Kräuter pur’. Mild, easy on the stomach and just right for a cosy tea break before singing.
4. Wrapped up warm for the rehearsal: a hat, a hoodie and socks
Anyone who cycles or walks to choir practice in winter will be delighted to have a warm beanie or a cosy hoodie. The Beanies are available in beige and golden yellow; the oversized hoodies in Beige and Black. And to keep your feet warm whilst practising at home, there’s my Socks Featuring a logo. A lovely little gift, perfect for St Nicholas’s stocking or Secret Santa.
5. A notebook for song lyrics and exercises
During singing lessons, you’ll find yourself jotting down lots of notes on exercises and songs. And when you’re out and about, you might come up with ideas for a song of your own. My spiral-bound notepad It’s lined, which gives you plenty of freedom: you can use it to write, sketch or create your own tables and exercise plans. This way, you can keep everything in one place, and sometimes you might even end up writing your very first pieces of text in it.
6. A humidifier for the home
As soon as the heating comes on, the air in the room becomes dry. Singers notice this in their voices, which tire more quickly. A humidifier for the bedroom or for the room where they practise every day is a gift that hardly anyone thinks of, but which makes a big difference.
7. Concert tickets
Experiencing a live concert is inspiring and makes you want to sing yourself. It’s especially lovely if you go together.
8. The sheet music for my favourite song
Is there a song the recipient has always wanted to sing? The sheet music or a songbook would then make a very personal gift.
9. A music stand for the home
Anyone who practises using sheet music or song lyrics will be familiar with this: the sheet is lying on the table, and you sing with your head bowed. However, an upright posture is much better for your voice. A sturdy music stand brings sheet music and lyrics up to eye level. A small gift that makes a big difference when practising.
10. A voucher for singing lessons or a singing workshop
A gift that really helps singing enthusiasts make progress. In a taster session, we’ll get to know each other, I’ll carry out a brief vocal analysis, and we’ll try out some initial exercises. Anyone who prefers singing in a group is very welcome to join one of my singing workshops in Berlin-Mitte. The Vouchers You can buy it directly from my website and print it out yourself – this is available until 24 December. My tip: combine the voucher with an item from my shop, such as a beanie or a water bottle. That way, it becomes a proper little parcel to unwrap.

Singing together, laughing and just having the courage to give it a go: with karaoke, it’s not about hitting the right note, but about enjoying the experience of singing. An evening in a karaoke booth with friends is a treat you’ll look back on fondly for a long time to come.
By the way: I organise my own karaoke party with my pupils about every three months. We sing, have a good time and put what we’ve learnt into practice straight away. Everyone who takes regular lessons with me or has a subscription to my online course is invited. If you’d like to join in, the best way to get started is with a Taster lesson.

The best gift for singers is one that says: ‘I can see what brings you joy.’ Whether it’s for a professional singer, a talented amateur who hasn’t quite plucked up the courage yet, a choir member or a choir director: with any of these gifts, you’ll be supporting their passion for music.
